PODPORA UKRAJINY

VYJÁDŘENÍ PODPORY UKRAJINĚ

Spolek Umělecká beseda byl založen v roce 1863 s cílem pěstovat ideály české kultury a tak pro ni zajistit rovnocenné místo v evropském společenství. Během období válek a ideologického útlaku 20. století zůstala Umělecká beseda neochvějně věrná zakládajícímu heslu „V umění volnost“. Trvale se hlásí k mravním hodnotám tolerance a lidskosti, z nichž se zrodila.

My, členové a přátelé Umělecké besedy, odsuzujeme nevyprovokovanou ruskou okupaci svrchované Ukrajiny a plně podporujeme statečný boj, který ukrajinští obránci svádí s brutálním ruským agresorem.

The Umělecká beseda arts association was founded in 1863 with the aim of promoting the ideals of Czech culture, thus providing it with equal status in the European community. During wartime and periods of ideological suppression during the 20th century, Umělecká beseda remained unwaveringly faithful to its founding motto ‘In art there is freedom’. It continues to practise the moral values of tolerance and humanity on which it was originally founded.

We, members and friends of Umělecká beseda, condemn the unprovoked Russian occupation of the sovereign state of Ukraine and fully support the courageous fight that the Ukrainian defenders are conducting against the brutal Russian aggressor.

„Svoboda, právo, spravedlnost mají být chráněny a bráněny kdekoliv na světě; ne-li, jsou nakonec všude na světě ohroženy.“
‘Freedom, rights and justice should be protected and defended throughout the world; if not, they are ultimately threatened throughout the world.’

Josef Čapek (1887–1945), Psáno do mraků / Written into the Clouds
